How to Create More Time for Yourself
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Albert Einstein
If we are overwhelmed and exhausted, something clearly needs to change before we fall sick or go crazy. Depending on the commitments, we have the option to simply do less, or to do things differently. There is no such thing as ‘I have no time’, it is up to us to decide that ‘We do have time’ especially for the things that matter the most (eg. our health).
Time is relative! When we are having fun, it goes really quickly, but when we are worried or waiting or during challenging times, minutes seems to turn into hours.
In order to get organised and be able to create some time for ourselves – Vision Clarity and Planning are essential.
VISION – Where are we going? What is the end result we desire? What is the goal we are working for? Most of us are pre-programmed to think of all the things we don’t want, so creating a clear vision gets us super clear on what we do want, meaning we are much more likely to make it happen.
CLARITY – What are the steps we need to take for us to achieve our vision? Are we focusing, and doing all that matters or are we allowing too many distractions?
PLANNING – Start with the end in mind. What is your vision/goal? Plan strategically by reverse engineering your way from where you want to be, to where you are now. This works really well for the big vision/picture in life, as well as the daily schedule.
For example: Once we are clear on our vision for the week and what matters the most, we can focus on that and create strategies that will help us be more efficient.
A weekly planner helps me find clarity, set times for tasks, and schedule some ME TIME which I tend to respect, as it gives me that energy and excitement to be even more productive. Are you planning some ‘me time’ to get clear on what is important to you?
Are you busy trying to be everything to everyone while realising time goes by so fast?
